FINS at CSHL
Finishers' Information and
Networking Site
|
THIS SITE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION!!!
We have collected a few resources to help explain some of the techniques used for finishing
genomic sequence. The discussion section (see link below) will also serve as a valuable tool
to help solve finishing problems and assist other genome centers around the world. You can post
questions, find others with common interests/concerns as well as add techniques or
information you feel would be useful. It is our hope that this FINS site will have many
contributors and will grow and develop over time.
Go to the Discussion
Board for more information.
Finishing Presentations
Presentations are best viewed in Netscape or IE
- Finishing Genomic Sequence - This presentation written by Melissa de la Bastide at CSHL provides
a general overview of the finishing process. It explains some of the basic concepts behind finishing.
- Web Workshop Presentation - To assist other finishers working on the rice genome, Melissa has
prepared an additional presentation that not only goes over basic concepts, but shows regions which
commonly cause problems for a finisher.
- Technique Diagrams - Some of the techniques, like transposon sequencing, are further explained.
- Software Tools (SWIFT) - The SWIFT program was written by Sujit Dike at CSHL. This page explains some
of the tools incorporated into the software. Its primary feature is to select appropriate templates
for use in the finishing methods described above. It is alsomodular and new techniques are incorporated
as they are used in the wet lab.
